Yes, we often don’t agree with our elders…

Yes, we often don’t agree with our elders…

But you see…neither did our elders agree with theirs!

In this vicious loop of agreeing and disagreeing,

So much of our precious time withers away…

Just like us, our elders too are conditioned by their beliefs.

They have years of experience in their own ways,

& are often have a hard time understanding our perception…

Instead of arguing incessantly, trying hard to make them understand,

Choose patience and silently go on doing your work…

Our intention shouldn’t be “I will prove them one day!”

because this bitterness will not allow us to blossom…

Seeking approval or validation from others is not where our growth is…

Let our intention be laced with love and zeal,

As we go on doing our best…

Despite the disagreements, we can still choose

To love and care for our elders…

Even genuinely learn from their experiences and errors.

Slowly and gradually, as we make progress,

Our elders will eventually come to terms with our perception,

It’s not that disagreements will vanish…

Well, they will stay…in some way or other…

It’s just that despite the disagreements,

Now we have agreed to accept ourselves

Now we have learned to listen to our voice…

Then we will realise that it was no so much about disagreements….

as much as it was about accepting yourself,

and sailing gracefully through the conflicts,

and emerging as a better person in your own eyes.
